Sebagian besar herbivora tanpa gigi. Berkembang pada epoh Wordian dan Capitanian bersama beberapa radiasi adaptif seperti venyukoviarnorphs, Dromasauria, Eodicynodonta, Endothiodonta. dan Dicynodonta. Dari semua kelompok ini, hanya Dicynodontia yang berhasil, dan faktanya hewan besar, tanpa gigi dan berparuh ini menjadi herbivora darat dominan hingga epoh Carnian (periode Trias akhir).
